INTRODUCING SCWIBBLE!TM
Remember your child's first 'picture'? Bright crayon marks on a piece of paper or the back of an envelope? The happiness as you hailed the young artist clearly destined to be the new Van Gogh or Picasso?(!)
It's a moment many parents will recognise. And now the beauty and pleasure of it can more permanently be yours.
Artist Lucy Curtis will take your child's early creation and preserve its fresh 'scribble' appeal while transforming it into a charming, unique, artwork that will forever grace your home.
The journey from scribble to Scwibble!TM (her studio name) is one that Lucy is well qualified to conduct. Her recent work for Calgary Zoo, 'Animal Parade', dedicated to Mona Libin, President of the Alvin and Mona Libin Foundation and part-owner of the Calgary Flames, was received with great acclaim and she is engaged in further projects for the Zoo.
Lucy also worked extensively in Europe before coming to live in Canada. And now her latest venture, Scwibble!TM, is away to a flying start, as the remarks elsewhere on this website show. A Scwibble!TM is clearly a welcome idea for a gift, anytime something distinctive, something 'thought about', something truly personal, is needed.
We asked Lucy how she got the idea for Scwibble!TM It was, she said, "kind of an accident"....
"I had enjoyed children's mark-making for many years. And I'd been collaborating with my 3 year old on some sculpture when I was asked to donate a piece of work to help raise money for her school. Seeking a way to make an original contribution, I offered to create an artwork based on a child's drawing.
The fund raiser was a success. Suddenly I had friends asking me to do pieces with their children's work. Scwibble!TM was on its way.
Many artists work hard to win the freedom of mind that is natural to a child. Getting there can be difficult for an adult. But it's exciting when you manage it. Combining their spontaneous marks with my discipline brings many happy surprises. And the finished piece is unique, just like the 'scribble' that inspired it".
If you're a parent who might be interested in acquiring your own Scwibble!TM, you'll find examples and all the what-to-do, how-to-do-it information on another page of this site, www.scwibble.com
